Overview & Highlights
From towering mountains and natural wonders to vibrant cities and rich cultural heritage, Colorado offers a unique mix of experiences you won’t find anywhere else in the United States. Discover the state that is the gateway to the Rockies, experiencing its many breath-taking locations, diverse landscapes and fascinating frontier history.
You’ll begin your trip in the mile-high cultural epicentre of the Rocky Mountain region, Denver. A place for both exploration and inspiration, you’ll find a thriving cultural scene, vibrant neighbourhoods, award-winning restaurants and more craft beer breweries than anywhere else in the United States. You’ll then make your way over to the world-famous Rocky Mountain National Park, seeing this illustrious mountain range in all its glory before spending a night in the world-famous resort town, Aspen. Next, you’ll be heading to the beautiful mountain town of Glenwood Springs. You’ll get to soak in some of the largest mineral pools in the world and revel in the mountain splendour before taking a short drive over to Grand Junction. Home to state’s most impressive natural wonders including the Colorado National Monument, the Grand Mesa and Rattlesnake Arches, you’ll find endless opportunities for outdoor recreation over your two day stay.
You’ll then spend a night amongst the stunning mountain scenery surrounding Telluride – a one-of-a-kind town nestled in a box canyon that’s a designated National Historic Landmark District – before driving down to Durango, a former frontier outpost that has maintained the Wild West’s railroad history. Here, you’ll get to ride the original Durango Train through the mountains and along the rivers to the mineral mines just like in the 1800s.
Then, you’ll head over to see Colorado’s ancient Puebloan ruins at Mesa Verde National Park – learning all about the history there from a knowledgeable tour guide. Afterwards, you’ll drive to Pagosa Springs for a day of hot spring dipping and leisurely walks by the San Juan River before heading to your final destination: Colorado’s second largest city, Colorado Springs. Here you’ll spend your last two days hiking the Garden of the Gods, gliding in a gondola over Royal Gorge at sunset and taking the Pikes Peak Cog Railway up to the 14,114 ft. mountain summit.
