Summer is widely considered the best time of year to visit the Pacific Northwest as the weather will be pleasantly warm and dry, ideal for both city and outdoor exploration. Shoulder months, especially April, May and October are also worthwhile as the weather tends to be mild with only small amounts of precipitation and fewer crowds.
Do I need to hire a car for a Pacific Northwest holiday?
While you can easily get around the region’s major cities, like Portland and Seattle, by public transport or on foot, any smaller towns and natural areas generally require a car. Driving also offers a far superior experience, allowing you to get out at stops of your choosing and roam at your leisure. We’d highly recommend using a car for at least part of your journey.
Do I need to be very active to enjoy the Pacific Northwest?
Not at all. An average level of basic fitness will easily suffice for a Pacific Northwest holiday. Many trails – should you want to explore them – are easy, well-defined and with minimal elevation.
