Rocky Mountain States
Overview & Highlights
There’s no better place for outdoor adventure than in the Rocky Mountains, and a visit to the region is guaranteed to take you back to a simpler time and place. Vast, unspoiled wilderness, small, charming towns, long opens roads and prairies that stretch as far as the eye can see await and keep the magic and myth of the West alive. You’ll be starting your journey in the Western town of Bozeman and ending your trip in Rapid City, South Dakota, getting to experience the breathtaking natural wonders of both Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, as well as the incredible scenery and wildlife across the Rocky Mountain region.
You’ll begin your trip in Bozeman, a charming mountain town reminiscent of Aspen with some of the best outdoor recreation in the Rockies, and a delightful dining scene. You’ll then pass through the town of Missoula, renowned for its easy-to-access hiking trails and blue-ribbon trout fishing before stopping for two nights in Whitefish right next to Glacier National Park.
Take two days to explore this world-famous wilderness haven filled with melting glaciers, carved valleys, alpine meadows and spectacular lakes before heading to the majestic mountains and sparkling shores of Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene.
The next day you’ll continue to the pretty and popular mountain resort town of McCall before stopping for a night in Sun Valley. You’ll then head deeper into the wilderness with an overnight stay in tranquil Victor – right in the heart of the Tetons – before finally stopping in Yellowstone National Park. Spend two nights just minutes away from the world-famous Old Faithful Geyser exploring what is arguably the USA’s most incredible natural wonder showcasing what the North American continent was like before recorded history across its 2.2 million acres of unspoiled wilderness.
You’ll then continue to go back in time with overnight stays in the former Wild West towns of Cody and Sheridan before taking a scenic drive to Rapid City – getting to stop in well-known places like Devil’s Tower and Spearfish Canyon along the way. Rapid City will give you access to the breathtaking Badlands National Park, the founding fathers faces at Mount Rushmore, and a guided buffalo safari in the local bison’s natural habitat, Custer State Park – immersing you in every aspect of the Rocky Mountain region.
