WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE...?

PLACE

Yellowstone National Park is my favourite place in the USA, combining raw natural power with incredible wildlife and scenery. Shaped by a supervolcano, it’s home to over 10,000 geothermal features, with geysers erupting and steam rising from the ground. Driving through the park is unforgettable, with bison on the roads, elk in the meadows and the chance to spot bears and wolves against stunning landscapes. Each region is distinct: the west for geothermal sights, the south for the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, the east towards Cody and Sheridan and the north’s Lamar Valley for exceptional wildlife viewing.

HOTEL

The Enchantment Resort was designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding red rock landscape and is just a short drive from the lovely town of Sedona. It offers breathtaking views of the cliffs and an incredibly peaceful setting. The rooms (casitas and suites) are spacious with a luxurious feel, while the hotel is surrounded by excellent hiking routes. Facilities are impressive, including a high-end spa, swimming pool, tennis courts and padel and pickleball courts. It’s the perfect place to relax while also exploring the striking beauty of Sedona’s red rock formations.

EXPERIENCE

A Navajo-guided tour of Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend in Arizona was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Access to these sacred lands is only possible with a Navajo guide. Antelope Canyon is a narrow slot canyon, in places just a couple of metres wide, where sunlight streams down to illuminate the red rock walls and create beautiful wave-like patterns. Horseshoe Bend is one of America’s most iconic viewpoints. From the cliffs above, you can see the Colorado River loop into a perfect horseshoe shape, with the vivid red rock providing a stunning backdrop for photos.

What are your destination highlights?

CALIFORNIA

California is one of the USA’s most exciting destinations, combining vibrant cities, iconic national parks and a stunning, diverse coastline dotted with scenic seaside towns. Northern California is defined by dramatic landscapes, from San Francisco and the rugged coastline to Yosemite National Park, renowned for its waterfalls, trails and wildlife including black bears and coyotes. Southern California offers a contrasting vibe, with Los Angeles’ energy, San Diego’s laid-back beaches and year-round sunshine. Inland, Palm Springs delivers a stylish desert escape close to Joshua Tree National Park. Connecting it all, the Pacific Coast Highway offers one of the world’s most scenic drives, with sweeping ocean views at every turn.

THE ROCKIES

The Rockies offer some of North America’s most spectacular landscapes, combining iconic national parks, rich Native American heritage and characterful Western towns. Highlights include Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park and Glacier National Park, each known for dramatic scenery, abundant wildlife and excellent opportunities for outdoor exploration. Beyond the parks, it’s the towns that bring the region to life. Jackson Hole and Bozeman capture the spirit of the American West with a blend of adventure, culture and warm hospitality, while Sheridan and Cody offer a deeper connection to frontier history and the legacy of Buffalo Bill. The Rockies span a vast area, stretching into South Dakota’s Black Hills and Mount Rushmore, and down into Colorado, where scenic drives, striking mountain landscapes and vibrant destinations like Denver and Aspen await.

NEW YORK CITY

New York City remains one of the great cities of the world, drawing visitors back time and again with its ever-changing energy and endless discoveries. What makes New York so captivating is its incredible diversity. From iconic landmarks such as Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, to world-class arts, theatre and music, the city offers something for everyone. Each borough and neighbourhood has its own distinct character. Manhattan buzzes with energy, Brooklyn brings creativity and edge, while areas like Greenwich Village and Harlem are rich in culture, history and exceptional food.

What are your top travel tips?

Get involved

One of the best things you can do when travelling is to engage with the people around you. Americans are known for being friendly, open and chatty, and they’re often genuinely interested in where you’re from. Don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation—you’ll often come away with great recommendations for places to visit, as well as the best spots to eat and drink that you might not find in a guidebook.

Balance your itinerary

Don’t underestimate the sheer size of the country when planning your road trip. Distances can be vast and some drives will be longer and more tiring than expected—but they are often incredibly scenic and worth it. Part of the fun of the trip will be in the scenic drives where you are surrounded by amazing views. Try to balance your itinerary by avoiding too many one-night stays, as constantly moving on can mean you only scratch the surface of some truly amazing destinations. Allow time to slow down, explore and really experience the places you visit rather than just passing through.
