Visit Gulf State Park Nature Centre

Learn about the Gulf Coast’s native species of flora and fauna with a visit to the state park’s nature centre.

Located within the Gulf State Park campgrounds, the Gulf State Park Nature Centre is a living museum of plants and animals that are native to the Gulf Coast region. You’ll see a range of indigenous animals including snakes, turtles, lizards, alligators and fish, as well as numerous birds of prey. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and take their time to answer any questions you might have about the wildlife and plants in the area, while also offering weekly programmes the general public can participate in. Take a guided nature walk, learn more about a specific animal, or roam around by yourself on foot or by bike on one of the well-maintained, paved trails. You might even see an alligator sunbathing out on Alligator Pier! The Centre also has numerous weekly programmes for children so if you happen to be travelling with a family, stop by to immerse them for a fun and educational hour.
