Overview & Highlights
From majestic mountains and endless landscapes to limitless skies and mind-bending rock formations, the American West is renowned for its awe-inspiring natural wonders. Immerse yourself in the best this region has to offer by starting in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and ending your stay in Utah’s red rock national parks – you’ll stop at all the must-see locations along the way and take a 2-day ride on the famous Rocky Mountaineer train.
Land in the mile-high cultural epicentre of the Rocky Mountain region, Denver. A place for both exploration and inspiration, you’ll find a thriving cultural scene, vibrant neighbourhoods, award-winning restaurants and more craft beer breweries than anywhere else in the United States. Spend two days in this mountain metropolis before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer train for a breathtaking journey from the Rocky Mountains to the heart of Utah’s National Parks. You’ll travel all day, stopping for a night in the beautiful mountain resort town of Glenwood Springs. You’ll then continue on the Rocky Mountaineer to one of the most sought-after towns in the West, Moab. Utah’s iconic and rugged adventure centre, it boasts some of the darkest skies in the country. It’s also situated right between both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks so you can do some incredible hiking. You’ll then have a two-night stay in Utah’s distinctive capital, Salt Lake City, where you can get a taste of its Great Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountain scenery before continuing to your final stop, Zion National Park. You’ll be staying in the park looking out on unparalleled views of the towering sandstone cliffs, and hiking through some of the USA’s most beautiful sights. A guided tour through Zion’s iconic The Narrows caps off your trip, leaving you to journey home with incredible memories of truly incredible natural sites.

Our expert's opinion
“Most people only get to visit either the Rocky Mountains or the red rock landscapes found across southern Utah so to find a trip that offers both is more than worth your while. Both regions are stunning, and you’ll get to travel between the two on the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer train. Expect spectacular views and an unforgettable experience!”
