When is the best time to visit Minneapolis?

The best time to visit Minneapolis-St Paul is April to October when the weather is warmest with the most sunshine. Spring arrives late (April/May) with average temperatures varying widely 4-20°C. Summer (June – August) brings average temperatures ranging 20-28°C. The weather in autumn (September and October) is comfortable with temperatures ranging 8-20°C. The autumn colours make this an attractive time to visit. Winter (November to March) can be very cold with temperatures ranging 5°C to -12°C. Snow is most common December-February and winter sports are popular in Minnesota. Winter is a good time to explore museums and indoor attractions, and warm up in the bars and restaurants.

Minneapolis-St Paul combines well with the rest of Minnesota as well as neighbouring Wisconsin and nearby Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Duluth on Lake Superior is only two hours’ drive north-east, while Milwaukee and the Door Peninsula are five hours’ drive south-east.
