A slow-paced and soulful rail journey through the Deep South, where music, culture and coastal life shape every stop.
Travelling by train through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, this journey explores the Deep South through the places that define its sound and spirit. Beginning in New Orleans and following the Gulf Coast by Amtrak, it blends iconic music heritage with relaxed coastal towns, offering an immersive and unhurried way to experience one of America’s most atmospheric regions.
Your journey starts in New Orleans, the undisputed birthplace of jazz and a city where music is part of everyday life. From guided walking tours through the French Quarter to legendary jazz clubs and a classic Creole jazz dinner, you’ll be immersed in the stories, sounds and characters that have shaped the city’s global influence.
Leaving the energy of New Orleans behind, the pace softens as you travel east along the Gulf Coast by rail. Stops in Bay St Louis, Mobile and Pascagoula reveal a quieter side of the Deep South, where historic streets, waterfront views and Southern hospitality take centre stage. Together, these destinations create a journey that balances cultural depth with space to slow down, allowing the rhythm of the South to unfold naturally from start to finish.
