The exhibition is a dazzling celebration of the artistry, culture and history of the Hawaiian Islands

The exhibition brings together remarkable objects – from feathered cloaks worn by chiefs and finely carved deities to shark-toothed weapons and powerful contemporary works by Kānaka ʻŌiwi (Native Hawaiian) artists.

Developed in collaboration with Native Hawaiian artists, practitioners and scholars, the exhibition centres Indigenous knowledge and storytelling, revealing extraordinary histories of voyaging, diplomacy and cultural resilience. Rare international loans are displayed alongside the British Museum’s own collection – one of the largest outside Hawaiʻi. The exhibition runs until 25 May, offering a rare opportunity to discover the incredible artistry and history of Hawaiʻi, before experiencing its living culture for yourself.
