Just south of Banff, Canmore is a quieter town with a dramatic location beneath the stunning Three Sisters peaks. The town is the gateway to Kananaskis Country, which offers a wide variety of hiking, biking, horse-riding and whitewater rafting.

Canmore has an interesting museum charting the history of its coal mining heritage, while the most accessible park on the outskirts of town is the Canmore Nordic Centre with over 100km of hiking, biking and cross-country skiing trails.

Canmore is also a great base to explore the surrounding Kananaskis region with five provincial parks nearby, including Bow Valley, Sheep River, Spray Valley and the largest Peter Lougheed, centred around Kananaskis Lakes. Grassi Lakes and Ha Ling Peak are also popular hikes near the town.
