A Tour of Her Own

See Washington DC through the stories it has never quite got around to telling – those of the women who shaped it.

Founded in 2018, A Tour of Her Own is the first tour company in Washington DC to focus exclusively on women’s history. Woman-owned and locally operated, it’s led by licensed professional guides and public historians whose premise is simple: women’s history is on every corner of DC, it just isn’t always labelled.

Private group tours run for two hours and can be tailored to specific themes, neighbourhoods, or group interests. Routes cover everything from the suffrage movement and the Civil War-era Treasury girls to the Black feminist leaders who shaped the city and the country. House museums, memorial markers, and stops at women-owned local businesses – afternoon teas, chocolate tastings – are all woven in depending on the itinerary.
