Hotel Vandivort

Hotel Vandivort is the kind of downtown stay that feels instantly grounded in place. Set within a restored 1906 Masonic Temple, it blends old-world character with modern polish, creating a calm, design-led base for a night in Springfield. It’s also a natural pause point for travellers tracing the old Route 66 corridor, with the road’s history woven through the surrounding streets.

Rooms and suites are spacious and softly lit, with deep, comfortable beds, large windows and a palette of warm woods and textured fabrics.

Some sit in the hotel’s historic wing, where original brickwork and lofty ceilings hint at the building’s past, while others in the newer expansion favour clean lines and a more contemporary finish. You’ll find all the essentials – walk-in showers, fast WIFI, mini fridges, blackout blinds – but the real comfort comes from how considered everything feels.

Downstairs, The Order serves unfussy Ozarks-inspired cooking. Mornings begin with strong coffee and freshly cooked breakfasts, while evenings are more atmospheric, with seasonal menus and a low hum of conversation rising from the bar. The rooftop, Vantage, offers one of the best sunset vantage points in the city, with cocktails served alongside skyline views.

Days here tend to unfold easily. There’s a well-equipped fitness room, comfortable communal spaces for reading or planning the next stretch of your journey, and Springfield’s historic downtown right outside the door.

Our expert's opinion

“What we love about Hotel Vandivort is how it manages to feel both refined and genuinely welcoming—there’s a sense of style throughout, but it never feels formal, making it an easy, comfortable place to unwind while still feeling a bit special.”
