New England

Overview & Highlights

Explore Boston, Cape Cod and the islands of New England on this 10-day fly-drive tour. Discover historic sites of the Mayflower pilgrims and American Revolutionary War, the idyllic islands Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, before experiencing unforgettable whale-watching off Cape Cod and feasting on delicious seafood in the evenings.

Begin in Boston, one of America’s most historic cities with an iconic harbour. Follow the famous Freedom Trail of Revolutionary War sites, then sample delicious clam chowder and lobster rolls. Take an optional day trip to Salem, site of the infamous witch trials.

On the way to Cape Cod, explore historic Plymouth where the Mayflower pilgrims landed in 1620. Arrive in Falmouth and explore its beautiful harbour and lighthouse before taking an optional drive up to the thriving artistic community of Provincetown.

Take the ferry over to Martha’s Vineyard and visit sites of the movie Jaws in Edgartown before exploring the island’s lighthouses and dramatic clifftops. Then visit tranquil Nantucket, an island filled with pre-Civil War buildings and maritime history.

Finish your trip with some amazing whale-watching off Cape Cod, the top destination on the USA’s east coast to see humpbacks and other species breaching out of the waters in Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary.

Every destination on this tour is renowned for its excellent seafood, so a highlight is feasting on mouthwatering delicacies for dinner after days filled with fascinating sightseeing.

Our expert's opinion

“Whale-watching off Cape Cod is so wonderful! Seeing humpbacks leap out of the water and slapping their fins so close to the boat is up there as one of my favourite wildlife experiences. ”

Joshua Salter - Travel Expert

Joshua has been travelling to the USA since childhood, visiting his father and four siblings on the west coast. He is fortunate to have travelled to 42 of the 50 US states, and hopes to complete the set by his next big birthday.
