Clothing & special equipment

For outdoor excursions, shorts, T-shirts and comfortable shoes are a must, as is swimwear. However, for the Mauna Kea tour, a warm sweatshirt or jacket and trousers are best. Sunglasses, a hat and sun cream SPF30+ are also highly recommended as the sun in the Hawaiian Islands is strong year-round.

Weather

The Hawaiian Islands boast a warm and sunny year-round climate, offering pleasant temperatures and outdoor fun no matter the season. Spring and autumn and early winter are the best times to visit as the weather will be comfortably warm. Summer is hot and humid and January and February are the rainy months out of the year.

Altitude

There will be one excursion on this itinerary where you will ascend the nearly 14,000-foot (4,207m) summit of Mauna Kea. Please speak with your travel specialist if you have any concerns.
