2026/27 O’AHU HOLIDAYS AND TOURS
Boasting dramatic landscapes and places of both cultural and historic interest, O’ahu is one of Hawai’i’s most diverse islands.
Home to Hawai’i’s capital, the island of O’ahu is both rooted in Hawaiian tradition and home to a melting pot of cultures that makes for a one of a kind destination. Here you can tour historic landmarks, surf the world-famous Waikīkī Beach, hike breathtaking coastal cliffs, witness astounding natural beauty and dine at five-star restaurants. The Hawaiian notion of ‘aloha spirit – or compassion and decency – is woven into the fabric of daily life, and after just a few days visitors will not only get to see key parts of the island, but find themselves adjusting to the island way of life.
The state capital, Honolulu, which dominates the island is home to the legendary Waikīkī Beach, the iconic Diamond Head Crater and multiple historic sites, including the only royal residence found on US soil, ‘Iolani Palace. Home to Hawai’i’s last two monarchs, a tour of this fascinating palace is well worth one’s time, and across the street stands the bronze statue of King Kamehameha, the monarch who unified the Hawaiian Islands.
Honolulu aside, O’ahu has many different areas and towns, each distinctive in their own way. North of the capital perched 3,000 feet above the windward coastline lies the Nu’uanu Pali Lookout, where you’ll get the best views of the Ko’olau Cliffs, while west of Honolulu you’ll find the National Historic Landmark of WWII’s Pearl Harbor, where daily tours are given of the USS Arizona Memorial, the battleship that sunk in the 1941 attack.
A scenic drive around the east side of the island takes you to the beautiful nature preserve of Hanauma Bay, the cosy town and pristine shores of Kailua and all the way up to the world-renowned North Shore where you’ll find the astounding waves of international surf competitions at Sunset Beach and Waimea Bay. Here, you’ll also find the backcountry town of Hale’iwa whose charm and local eats will have you wanting to return.
O’ahu is also an active island with plenty of nature to explore while you’re at it. Make the easy hike up the iconic Diamond Head (Lē’ahi) Crater. Hike through Waimea Valley with its beautiful rain forest and hidden waterfalls, and go for a horse ride across the stunning Kualoa Ranch. Its location has been used in over 200 films and TV shows, including Jurassic Park, Hawaii Five-O and Magnum PI.
