2026/27 MOLOKA’I HOLIDAYS AND TOURS

The least populated of the Hawaiian islands, Moloka’i offers a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in the land and people of ‘the friendly isle’.

View Holidays

Remaining relatively untouched by development, Moloka’i allows visitors to experience Hawai’i the way nature intended. Mobile signals are sparse, internet access isn’t readily available, and the main hotel on the island, Hotel Molokai, is modest and most accommodations come in the form of a cosy bed and breakfast. Locals – of which around 50% are native Hawaiian – prefer to go back to basics, and chances are you will too.

In Moloka’i, you can get a true sense of Hawaiian culture and spending a few days here as part of a wider Hawai’i trip will enrich your understanding of this unique part of the world.

Breathtaking natural beauty and ancient life await: Moloka’i is home to the world’s highest sea cliffs and Hawai’i’s longest fringing reef, as well as remnants of Hawai’i’s ancient past. You’ll come across remains of historic stone temples or heiau, and see old irrigation channels, walls and terraces on hikes through the island’s awe-inspiring Hālawa Valley. In Kalaupapa National Historical Park you can take a thrilling mule ride from 1,700 feet to one of Hawai’i’s most remote settlements – the area was once an isolated leprosy colony in the 1800s – and glimpse some of Moloka’i’s most spectacular scenic views.

Local agriculture abounds and during your stay you can even visit a macadamia nut farm to see and taste how Hawai’i’s local tree nut grows. But make sure that in all of this you take some time for a swim or sunset on the state’s largest white-sand beach, Pāpōhaku.

Round off your stay with some time in Moloka’i’s main town, Kaunakakai. Filled with numerous historic landmarks, Hawai’i’s longest pier and unique shops and eateries, you’ll find the spirit of the island that gives it the nickname ‘the friendly isle’.
