Haleakalā Sunset Tour

While many visitors to Maui choose to summit Haleakalā for the scenic sunrise, this tour offers visitors to the island a chance to witness the equally spectacular sunset. On this approximately 7-hour Haleakalā Sunset Tour, you’ll avoid the early morning crowds, experience the incredible dark night sky after the sun sets and enjoy a delicious picnic-style dinner.

The evening will start with your professional guide picking you up at your hotel and driving you through Maui’s charming Upcountry communities, enjoying the scenic views, before ascending to the 10,023-foot (3,055m) summit of Haleakalā National Park. You’ll stop at the Park Visitor Centre before making the final, winding push towards the volcano’s magnificent summit. Haleakalā means “House of the Sun” in Hawaiian and once you arrive, you’ll see why as you gaze upon the colourful crater with its smooth, lunar cinder cones, and peer across the orange-hued horizon – the sun glowing and the peaks of the island of Hawai’i visible in the distance.

Afterwards, you’ll get to witness the breath-takingly clear night sky and see stars and their constellations. Your guide(s) sharing stories of geology, ecology and Hawaiian history all through the excursion.
