When is the best time to visit Lāna’i?

Boasting little tourism and warm, sunny weather year-round, Lāna’i can be visited anytime of the year. The island’s capital town, Lāna’i City sits at a higher elevation of 1,700 ft making it a degree or two cooler than the rest of the island, but chances are you’ll be staying closer to the coasts. For those interested in whale watching, the best months to visit are between January and early April.

What places combine well with Lāna’i?

A trip to Lāna’i is best combined with a visit to the island of Maui, thanks to the daily passenger ferry service that runs between the islands. With three daily departures from and to Maui, Lāna’i is within even easier reach than by plane, offering a wonderful opportunity to explore two of Hawaii’s most beautiful islands.

Lāna’i can also be combined with a holiday to O’ahu as it can only be accessed from the continental United States through Honolulu International Airport. Head there directly after a brief stopover, or spend a few days in Hawai’i’s capital first.
