La Fonda on the Plaza Santa Fe

Boasting striking adobe features, La Fonda on the Plaza was built in 1922, with architecture influenced by Mary Colter and John Gaw Meem. Hand-carved beams, stained-glass skylights and a 25-foot cathedral ceiling are among the historic details that give the hotel its unmistakable character, while modern amenities provide all the comforts of a contemporary stay.

Rooms and suites are individually decorated with handcrafted Southwestern furnishings, hand-painted details and original artwork. In-room amenities include luxury toiletries, plush robes, a hair dryer, Nespresso coffee makers, bottled water, a flat-screen television, a safe and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests can choose from traditional and deluxe rooms, one-bedroom suites and the newly renovated Terrace Inn, which is a private collection of 15 rooms and suites with a dedicated concierge and private patios or balconies overlooking the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, Loretto Chapel or the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Selected suites also feature piñon wood-burning fireplaces, adding to the hotel’s distinctive Santa Fe character.

On-site, La Fonda also has plenty to offer its guests. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, a 24-hour fitness centre, spa and wellness facilities, excellent dining and two bars. La Plazuela occupies the hotel’s original 1920s patio and serves contemporary New Mexican and Southwestern cuisine beneath skylights, while La Fiesta Lounge offers casual dining, cocktails and live music throughout the week. The seasonal Bell Tower Rooftop Bar is a particularly memorable spot for drinks and light fare, with sweeping views and spectacular Santa Fe sunsets. Breakfast is available at La Plazuela but is not included in the standard room rate unless guests book the hotel’s Bed & Breakfast package. Valet parking is available for an additional fee, and the hotel does not charge a resort fee.
