When is the best time to visit Gallup?

The best time to travel to Gallup, New Mexico is between end April and early October when the weather will be at its best for outdoor exploration. Daytime temperatures will range from 20°C at the start and end of the season with temperatures peaking at 31°C in July.

Located in the high desert of western New Mexico at 6,467 feet in elevation, Gallup has a distinct climate where summers are warm and dry with cool evenings, winters are cold and snowy with frequent winds, and spring and autumn are short and relatively mild during the day. Winter lasts from November to March with highs ranging from 14°C in the shoulder months to 2°C in January. Daily lows tend to hover at or below freezing.
