Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway

Glide almost three miles up into the sky for one of the best views in the American Southwest.

The Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway is one of the longest of its kind in the world, carrying you from the desert floor on the edge of Albuquerque up to 10,378 feet in around fifteen minutes flat. 

As the cable car climbs, the city falls away beneath you and the view opens out across the Rio Grande Valley, with the high desert stretching towards the horizon in every direction – on a clear day you can see for over a hundred miles. 

At the top, you’re standing on the western edge of the Cibola National Forest, where the terrain shifts entirely from desert scrub to alpine forest – a full change of scenery in the space of a single ride. There are hiking trails to wander if you fancy stretching your legs, or you can simply take it all in from the observation decks before heading back down.
