When is the best time to visit The Florida Keys?

The best time to visit The Florida Keys is from early November to early May with the clearest skies, most sunshine and most comfortable temperatures averaging 18-28°C. Christmas, spring break and Easter are always very busy tourist periods in southern Florida so Key West can get crowded. June to September is the hottest, rainiest period with temperatures over 30°C, often oppressive humidity with regular storms and overcast conditions. August to October is peak hurricane season with windy conditions and storms.

The Florida Keys use Eastern Standard Time (GMT – 5), observing Daylight Saving Time (GMT – 4) March to November.

The Florida Keys combine well with destinations in southern Florida. Miami is just under an hour’s drive north-east from Key Largo and four hours from Key West. Naples on the west coast is about 2.5 hours from Key Largo. Miami and The Florida Keys make a good stopover en route to Latin American destinations.
