With an atmosphere as steeped in history as it is in romance, a meal at Restaurant 1818 is well worth a trip to the stunning antebellum mansion, the Monmouth Historic Inn. Named for the year the mansion was built, the restaurant specialises in preparing traditional Southern food to perfection, and features classic dishes likes fried green tomatoes with jumbo lump crab, chilled Gulf shrimp cocktail, and bourbon pecan pie.
