North Vancouver offers an easy escape from the city and a chance to immerse yourself in some of British Columbia’s spectacular wilderness. Situated just across the harbour, this mountainous area is home to the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, where visitors can walk high above the Capilano River surrounded by towering evergreen trees. With its suspension bridge, treetop walkways and forest trails, it’s an unforgettable way to experience the region’s natural beauty, while nearby Grouse Mountain provides even more opportunities for hiking, wildlife spotting and panoramic views.
Just south of the Fraser River lies Richmond, a historic fishing hub and one of Canada’s most uniquely multicultural destinations. Home to picturesque fishing villages and celebrated for its exceptional dining scene, Richmond is a destination in its own right. The city’s diverse culinary offering is one of its greatest draws. Fresh seafood and Asian-inspired cuisine, influenced by Vancouver’s large Chinese population, sit alongside farm-to-table restaurants and casual neighbourhood diners. No visit is complete without an evening at the renowned Richmond Night Market, where hundreds of stalls showcase flavours from around the world. Shopping is equally varied, with independent boutiques, local designers and international brands found throughout the city.
No matter where you visit within the city, Vancouver’s location makes it an excellent base for exploring the wider region. Take a scenic drive along the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler, venture across the water to the beauty of Vancouver Island or head into the mountains for a day immersed in nature.
