Wickaninnish Inn
On a rocky headland of Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast, this Relais & Châteaux property has a secluded, dramatic location overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a backdrop of ancient evergreen forest. Set in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere of Clayoquot Sound, Wickaninnish Inn near Tofino is the only resort on Chesterman Beach.
The Inn occupies two contemporary cedar buildings with an extensive local art collection, and guests can even meet local artists at the onsite carving shed. Rooms and suites have ocean or beach views from the large windows or balconies, plus gas fireplaces, TV, Wifi, soaker tubs and spacious showers. The west-facing rooms offer the best sunset views.
The Pointe Restaurant serves a gourmet fusion of French and Canadian fare, specialising in seafood. The Inn also has a spa offering natural treatments based on native traditions, with a steam room, yoga and fitness room.
Guests can borrow bikes, raingear and binoculars to explore the wild surroundings of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Recommended excursions include sea kayaking and whale-watching.
The Wickaninnish Inn has its own environmental charter and has five Green Keys from North America’s Green Key Eco-Rating Program.
