Sonora Resort

Accessible only by water or air, the resort offers a wide range of luxurious facilities including spa, heated swimming pool, mineral pools, tennis court, fitness centre, fly fishing ponds, movie theatre, games room and fire pit.

Comfortable rooms have either ocean or garden views, post-and-beam styling, lounge area, stone fireplaces and hot tubs. Suites have between two and six bedrooms, indoor and outdoor hot tubs and balconies, while spacious villas are spread among the grounds in private locations.

Sonora Island and the surrounding region are home to a variety of wildlife. Marine life includes orca, humpback whales, steller sea lions, Dall’s porpoises, dolphins and otters, as well as five species of Pacific salmon including chinook, pink, sockeye, coho and chum.

Birdwatchers can see Bonaparte’s gulls, bald eagles, great blue herons, cormorants and kingfishers, and the resort runs excursions into the nearby Great Bear Rainforest to see grazing black bears and blacktail deer.

Part of the Relais and Châteaux association, the resort restaurant showcases west coast gourmet cuisine, an award-winning wine cellar and spa to pamper yourself.

The resort is reachable either by plane from Vancouver or water taxi from Campbell River on Vancouver Island.
