Grapevine Holidays 2026 & 2027

Known for its restored 19th-century buildings and railroad, this quaint, cosy town is also home to some of Texas’ top wineries and lakeside resorts.

Named for the wild mustang grapes that grew across the rich black soil of the Grape Vine Prairie, Grapevine, Texas is a charming historical town located just 10 minutes from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and 20 minutes from downtown Dallas. Renowned for its walkable and fully-restored historic Main Street, bustling with locally-owned shops, delightful restaurants, bars and artist studio galleries, Grapevine is equally known for its Urban Wine Trail, and biannual wine festivals where local wineries produce excellent reds and whites from local varieties.

The city is situated right next to Lake Grapevine, around which much of Grapevine’s nature and world-class resorts are concentrated. Go boating, water skiing, windsurfing, kayaking and paddle boarding – or head beyond the shores where more than 1,400 acres of scenic hiking, biking and walking trails await.

Grapevine originally flourished thanks to the arrival of the Cotton Belt Railroad in 1888, and visitors and residents alike can still hop aboard the original Grapevine Vintage Railroad for a train ride to the Fort Worth Stockyards to get a glimpse of Texas livestock history. Grapevine’s downtown boasts an original Glockenspiel clock tower which performs the “Would-Be Train Robbers” every two hours daily, and at nearby Nash Farm, the longest continuously working farmstead in the county, one can still get a hands-on experience of authentic 19th century farm life.
