This 11-day holiday takes you on an adventure around Newfoundland, one of Canada’s largest and most distinctive islands. You’ll explore its glacier shaped fjords, rugged Atlantic headlands, quaint fishing communities, wildlife-rich coastlines, Norse archaeology and offshore pocket of French territory – all while travelling aboard a small expedition vessel designed to reach the coves, bays and communities that larger ships simply can’t access.
This voyage places the focus squarely on wildlife, culture and raw natural scenery. Rather than traditional port calls, you’ll make small group landings that allow you to step ashore at places like L’Anse aux Meadows, walk the UNESCO listed landscapes of Gros Morne National Park, wander the French speaking streets of St Pierre, and explore quiet bays where moose, whales and seabirds are often spotted at close range.
Aboard your expedition vessel, comfort and curiosity go hand in hand. Cabins are designed for rest and relaxation after long days outdoors, and the ship’s guides and naturalists bring Newfoundland’s history, geology and wildlife to life through talks, walks and time spent on deck. The vessel’s size provides stability and ease of movement, while keeping you close to the island’s dramatic coastline throughout the journey.
Please note – The itinerary may vary depending on weather, sea conditions and seasonal wildlife movements. Extensions in Newfoundland or time on the Canadian mainland can be added at either end of the journey. Landbased alternatives are also available for those who prefer to explore by road and on foot. Our expert's opinion
“This Newfoundland expedition feels wonderfully immersive, giving you access to quiet bays, wildlife-rich shores and charming fishing communities that larger ships can’t reach. Each day brings something different — from walking through Norse history at L’Anse aux Meadows to exploring the dramatic landscapes of Gros Morne or strolling the French‑speaking streets of St Pierre. Life on board is relaxed and comfortable, with guides who genuinely enjoy sharing their passion for the island’s culture, geology and wildlife. It’s an ideal adventure for travellers who want close‑up exploration, plenty of fresh air and a front‑row seat to Atlantic Canada’s natural beauty.”
