Stanley Park
This 1,000‑acre park sits on a peninsula at the northern edge of the city. The park features lush rainforest trails and access to the world‑famous Sea Wall. The Sea Wall is the longest uninterrupted waterfront path in the world. Visitors can walk, cycle or jog along this iconic coastal route. The path offers scenic views, gentle breezes and year‑round natural beauty.
Along the Sea Wall, you can see Siwash Rock, a striking 32‑million‑year‑old sea stack. This natural landmark rises dramatically from the water near the shoreline. The rock has become one of the park’s most photographed features. Nearby viewpoints provide excellent angles for memorable photos. The coastline also features several beaches with calm areas for rest and relaxation. These beaches offer peaceful spots for sunbathing, picnics and ocean views. Harbour seals are often visible near the shoreline, delighting visitors of all ages. Clear days reveal sweeping views across English Bay and the surrounding mountains.
The park’s interior offers a different experience filled with dense forest scenery. Tall trees create an immersive canopy above quiet walking paths. Visitors can explore the colourful Rhododendron Garden during its seasonal bloom. The Rose Garden offers another serene stop with vibrant flowers and landscaped beds. Brockton Point features impressive First Nations totem poles that share powerful stories. These cultural works highlight the region’s history and Indigenous heritage.
A calm lagoon provides a peaceful setting for wildlife watching and relaxation. Families often enjoy the Stanley Park Train, which travels through the park’s leafy centre. The ride offers a charming way to see more of the landscape. Cycling is another popular way to explore the area’s many highlights. A bike tour covering 9 to 10 kilometres allows you to experience more of the park. Riders enjoy a balanced route featuring forest paths, coastal scenery and cultural sites.
This remarkable park offers nature, culture and adventure in one unforgettable setting.
