Mallika Jain

Travel Expert

Mallika’s love for North America first began when she attended an American boarding school as a teenager. Her mother’s side of the family lived in the USA, so she enjoyed frequent trips across many states.

After qualifying as an accountant and several years in banking and finance, Mallika left to travel around the world. Keen to share her experiences with others, she decided to pursue her passion for travel and joined the tourism industry. She has spent a decade designing and planning tailor-made itineraries and memorable experiences for clients, which gives her enormous satisfaction. She brings a wealth of knowledge to Journeyscape through her background, work and travel experience, as well as an eagerness to explore and learn more.

Highlights of her North American travels have been watching the Birmingham Stallions vs Memphis Showboats USFL game at Protective Life Stadium, learning the moving story of Civil Rights in Atlanta and Birmingham, and visiting the recording studios in Muscle Shoals where the greatest musicians recorded their albums.

What is your favourite...?

Atlanta: A vanguard of the new south, with the charm and elegance of the old. It’s a city that balances southern traditions with sleek modernism and southern hospitality, a city that has been burnt to the ground and built back up and given birth to its native son Martin Luther King, the greatest figure of the Civil Rights movement.

Knight Inlet Lodge: This wildlife viewing destination in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia is where you can spend your days viewing magnificent grizzly bears and incredible wildlife, and your nights enjoying great food and unique accommodation in the most spectacular natural environment.

Grand Canyon: One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the great tourist attractions. It’s an overwhelming experience, and nothing can prepare a visitor for the sight. It fills me with awe. It is absolutely unparalleled throughout the world.

Top Travel Tip:
Avoid peak travel dates and opt for shoulder seasons to avoid the crowds if you can.

Top Packing Tip:
Apple AirTags tracking devices, and avoid packing valuables and travel essentials in checked baggage as bags can get lost or delayed.

What are your destination highlights?

Dallas: Ninth largest city in the USA and third largest in Texas, Dallas has an impressive melting pot of culture and character. Boasting high-end luxury hotels, innumerable fine dining spots, world-class museums and a shimmering modern skyline, its history was marred by the assassination of JFK, but there is more historic and contemporary heritage to be discovered.

Alabama: Alabama is known for its Civil Rights history and scenic beauty and has much to offer those who enjoy the great outdoors. It has a reputation for southern hospitality and the people often go out of their way to help a stranger.

Chicago: Home of jazz and blues, the heart of the comedy scene and blueprint for the steely skyscraper, top chefs, renowned museums and rocking festivals, the Windy City will blow you away with its multifaceted splendors.
